In The Beginning

Back in January, I realized I am going to be 35 this year. WHOA! I was 325 lbs and nowhere close to being healthy. I could hear my biological clock ticking...Really...Really loud! I want to be a mom
before it is too late!

It still took a little while, though, because I was seriously in denial. In February, I decided to take action. I got off my butt and started my journey. I was determined not to give up this time no matter what!

At first I decided I would lower my calories, exercise, and not deprive myself of little treats. I started to eat A LOT of veggies with my meals. I tried to exercise three to four times a week for about half an hour to an hour a day. It worked...for a while. By the end of April, I was down 25 lbs, which is smaller than I had been in six years. I was cooking and eating very very healthy, but...I stopped losing and gained some weight back. So I cut my calories more and still gained some. I was frustrated!!! Even though I said I wasn't going to, I was about to give up! Again!

But I kept going, and when my mom told me about the Metabolism Miracle I found out that I have a different type of metabolism called Type B metabolism.

In the beginning of the Metabolism Miracle book it asks you a ton of questions, and I started to say out loud "Yes, Yes!" All across the board it was a yes, and I was so excited! I figured this could be the ticket, and I wondered how she knew me so well. It was because this dietitian went through the same thing. And let me tell you, as a dietitian she used to think the low carb or the Atkins was all baloney. She believed in calories in and calories out for all...until it didn't work for her, and she had to research a new way.

I started to read the book further and found out all about Metabolism B, and decided to completely changed my diet.

Now, the MM diet (as people call it) is not easy to start. But I was onboard from the very beginning and even talked my husband into doing it, and eventually my sister-in-law as well.  The first eight weeks is no carbs, sugar or fruit. You get an allowance of five net carbs every five hours (or at major meals) if you want to eat them. Not easy! At least at first. I was hungry, irritable, not a pleasant person to be around. Did I mention hungry? I wanted carbs, and I wanted them now! Then about four to five days into it something happened. I was getting full on protein and veggies. I didn't even think about carbs or wanting them. Though, I must admit I still craved chocolate. But there are ways around that one.
About another week later I had energy, a lot of energy.  I had not had energy since I was a little kid. I even had low energy in high school. I found my sex drive. I always thought there was something wrong with me because I just did not really care about sex that much before. But now! I'm a crazy woman.. I would say my poor husband but... well you get the picture...
Let me bring you up to date. I am down a total of 51 lbs since February, I am no longer pre-diabetic. My cholesterol went from kinda good to awesome, my blood pressure and almost everything else is really, really good! I want to try new things and can't wait to try them. My husband is down 25 lbs since we started seven weeks ago, and my sister-in-law is down 20 lbs.

We are very happy! We can not wait to continue our journey, and I can not wait to share everything. I hope I can inspire you or maybe you will end up inspiring me.

Next in my journey... a Zumba class... and if I can afford it I want to try kickboxing. I am looking forward to it. Oh and the thing I am most excited about, next Saturday I get to have my first piece of fruit since May 19th. Whoo Hoo!

Talk to you all soon!
